Personal Training vs. Group Training: Which Is Right for You?

Personal Training vs. Group Training: Which Is Right for You?

August 21, 20252 min read

At BFP, we offer both personal training and group training—and we believe both have a ton of value. The real question isn’t which is better. It’s which is better for you. Understanding the difference can help you make the right choice for your goals, lifestyle, and personality.

Personal Training: All About You
With personal training, the spotlight is on you. Every session is tailored to your goals, your body, and your schedule. That means:

  • Customized programming that changes as you progress

  • A coach correcting your form every rep

  • The flexibility to focus on anything from fat loss to post-injury recovery

  • Accountability that’s impossible to ignore

If you need individual attention, have specific goals, or just prefer a one-on-one environment, personal training is the best fit.

Group Training: Community and Energy
Group training has its own strengths. The energy of the room, the support of others, and the sense that you’re part of something bigger makes group training incredibly motivating. At BFP, our group sessions are structured, coached, and safe—but they aren’t individualized in the same way PT is. If you thrive in a team setting, want variety, and love being part of a fitness community, group training could be the perfect choice.

The Best of Both Worlds
Here’s the thing—many of our members do both. They might start with 1-on-1 personal training to nail down form and build confidence, then move into group training for community and energy. Others keep a blend: weekly PT sessions for specifics, plus group training for consistency. The two options complement each other more than they compete.

How to Decide
Ask yourself:

  • Do I need individual coaching and accountability? → Personal Training

  • Do I love the idea of training with others and feeding off energy? → Group Training

  • Do I want both structure and community? → A mix of the two

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer. The right choice depends on you. The good news? At BFP, you don’t have to choose blindly—we’ll help you find the right fit for your goals.
