Recently I was going through some saved articles that I have on my computer and I stumbled across a really good one that I haven’t read in a while! So, I wanted to share it. It’s written by Mike Robertson and it dissects the wall drill, which is a drill I incorporate at BFP with our athletes when teaching mechanics for acceleration. I like this drill for beginner athletes because it creates context with regard to body lean, angles and leg action, which can mimic an athlete accelerating.
Early in my career, this article helped me understand the concept of the drill and changed my approach to coaching it. This article gives some really good examples of mistakes and how to fix the mistakes as well as some helpful pictures describing what the mistakes look like.
If you are an athlete or coach, I highly recommend you read this short article!
